Murdoch Developmental Center Butner, NC
Murdoch Developmental Center is currently accepting applications for three (3) Housekeeper positions to work on 1st shift. These positions will perform a variety of duties in the cleaning and sanitizing of dayrooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and other assigned areas using the appropriate disinfectants and cleaners to enhance the overall appearance and sanitation of the facility. Heavy lifting is required, and duties may include physical activities such as moving furniture. ADA requirements will be discussed during the interview. Daily assignments are assigned by supervisory personnel and work is reviewed weekly with quality checks.

The normal work schedule is 1st shift (6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), Monday - Friday, including some weekends for special projects. These positions are designated Essential and must report or stay overnight during adverse weather events. Responsibilities Include:

• Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitizing hard surfaces, cleaning walls, woodwork, windows, and light fixtures
• Cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms, including replenishing paper supplies and soap as needed
• Emptying trash receptacles and other related duties as requested by their supervisor or management
• Assisting with tasks related to inclement weather tasks
• Other tasks as assigned by the supervision

Salary Grade: GN01
Recruitment Range $31,200

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:

• 
  Previous experience working as a housekeeper, janitor, or custodian is required
• Documented experience with cleaning procedures in an industrial, commercial, or health care facility

Management Preferences: High School Graduate or GED
One-year working as a housekeeper, janitor, or custodian
Housekeeping experience in a health care facility
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical work when moving furniture (up to 200/lbs.), walking, and standing extending arms over head for long periods of time, pushing, pulling of heavy carts, trash receptacles, and equipment

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience in housekeeping work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade. . . . .
